MUST CHECK: Lower unit mercury 205 is an excellent product. Before buying this, you have to verify some specifications of your engine such as Lower units gear ratio, engine type, two-stroke carb, DFI (Direct Fuel Injection), or 4-stroke and shaft length.
SHAFT LENGTH: Mercury 205 lower unit is an efficient lower unit. Before ordering, you must verify your shaft length. Your model # can tell you the shaft size. An L is a 20″, and an XL is a 25″. There is also an LL model, which is a 22.5 Inch Shaft. We do not offer this shaft size.
SUITABLE FOR: Mercury 205 lower unit is perfect for most 3 & 4 Cylinder 2-Stroke 1987 and newer 70-125 HP engine also fits most of the 75-115 HP 4-Stroke below Serial #OT801000. And this unit will also work with a 4-1/4 bullet diameter.
DOSEN’T FIT FOR: Mercury 205 outboard lower unit will not fit the model with a plastic water pump housing and three jaws lower unit unless you change the shift shaft in the midsection.Mercury 205 Outboard Lower Unit Features:

- Replaces most 3&4 Cylinder 2-Stroke 1987 and newer 70-125 HP

- Also replaces most 75-115 HP 4-Stroke below Serial #OT801000.
- This unit will not replace a 3 jaw lower unit unless you also change the shift shaft in the midsection.

- You must verify your Gear Ratio. See Table 1 Below

- 2.31 ratio is no longer available. 2.33 is the proper replacement.
