Shurhold 10" Polypropylene Stiff Bristle Deck Brush Selection Guide

The Shurhold 990 is a 10-inch stiff brush with polypropylene bristles. Choose the head width around the areas you can comfortably access, and choose firmness around the finish rather than the amount of visible dirt.

    1. Plan Broad Scrubbing With the 990

Choose the 990 around your planned deck scrubbing, then confirm the surface instructions allow this grade. Consider wider open sections when deciding how to arrange the washing route.

    2. Confirm the Surface Allows Stiff Bristles

Check the finish before bringing the stiff brush into contact. Keep a separate cleaning tool ready for areas that need a different level of bristle firmness.

    3. Measure Clearance for a 10-inch Head

Allow space for the 10-inch head as you move around cleats and nearby fittings. Reposition the handle when access limits the way you can guide the brush.

    4. Separate Heavy Cleaning From Finish Washing

Plan the cleaner and handle together with the 990 head. Read the surface care label and check the accessory joint before starting the first cleaning section.

Match the 10-inch Stiff Brush to Your Cleaning Area

Plan deck scrubbing in wider open sections and keep the brush free of trapped residue between passes. Check the cleaner label, finish guidance and handle connection before assembling a setup for the next area.

Shurhold 10" Polypropylene Stiff Bristle Deck Brush Selection Comparison

Shurhold 10" Polypropylene Stiff Bristle Deck Brush Use & Care

Plan deck scrubbing in wider open sections and keep the brush free of trapped residue between passes. Check the cleaner label, finish guidance and handle connection before assembling a setup for the next area.

    1. Flush the Scrubbing Area Before Starting

Rinse loose particles from the deck scrubbing area before the brush touches it. Inspect the head as well so trapped residue is not carried into the first pass.

    2. Test the Wider Stiff Head With Care

Test the 990 gently on a small, inconspicuous section before continuing. Inspect the result and change the approach if the surface care instructions require a different tool.

    3. Clear Residue Before the Next Section

Pause between wider open sections to inspect the polypropylene bristles for residue. Clear trapped particles before moving on, especially when working near fittings or changes in surface texture.

    4. Protect the 990 Head in Storage

Rinse the 990 after the job and follow its supplied care instructions. Store the head without pressure on the bristles and keep it separate from contaminated equipment.

Solid construction and durable wrap-around bumper

The protective rubber bumper around the wood block is a lifesaver—prevents scuffing gelcoat and brightwork while scrubbing tight corners. The MPN 990 stiff brush is definitely the right choice for below-the-waterline or teak maintenance.
