The OBR Mercury 225–250 HP TorqueMaster lower-unit family is divided by shaft length and condition. Select ME-G6-23-N or ME-G6-23-R only when the original application requires the 20-inch L configuration. Select ME-G6-24-N or ME-G6-24-R for the corresponding 25-inch XL configuration.
Start with the complete Mercury engine serial number and original gearcase or OEM number. These references are more reliable than horsepower or model year alone. Matching OEM catalog records associate the listed assemblies with selected 1.75:1 TorqueMaster applications, but the existing ratio and rotation should still be confirmed before the order is released.
Pay particular attention to 2013 engines. OBR lists this TorqueMaster family through 2013 and TorqueMaster 2 beginning in 2013. The two families should not be selected solely by year or external appearance.
After confirming the correct family and shaft length, choose new or remanufactured condition. Also verify whether a core deposit applies, what components are supplied with the assembly and which installation items must be reused or purchased separately.
