OBR Mercury F150 4-stroke lower unit by engine family, shaft length, rotation, and condition. This listing includes ME-G4 replacement gearcases for selected standard F150, F150 counter-rotation, F150 Pro XS, and F150 SeaPro applications. New and remanufactured configurations are available in 20-inch L and 25-inch XL versions, depending on the selected SKU.

Do not select a lower unit using horsepower or model year alone. Submit the complete engine model and serial number and confirm the existing shaft length, rotation, and original gear ratio before ordering. The explicitly identified F150 counter-rotation configuration is ME-G4-16A with a 25-inch XL shaft.

SEI SE90-221 is a separate product family and is not an alternate part number for these OBR ME-G4 gearcases. OBR gearcases ship without gear lubricant and must be filled according to the engine manufacturer’s requirements before operation.

New versions use the -N suffix and remanufactured versions use the -R suffix. Exact fitment must be confirmed using the complete engine model and serial number. A year, horsepower, or visual match by itself is not sufficient.

  • Confirm standard or counter rotation from the existing installation. Do not assume engine position alone determines rotation.
  • The listed F150 counter-rotation configuration is ME-G4-16A with a 25-inch XL shaft.
  • A 20-inch counter-rotation configuration is not present among the current variants.
  • Match the existing driveshaft length, gear ratio, and spline configuration.
  • Pro XS and SeaPro configurations must not be treated as interchangeable with the standard F150.
  • SEI SE90-221/SE221 is a different lower-unit family.
  • AP, digital-control, and other configuration exclusions: VERIFY BEFORE PUBLISHING.
  • Submit the complete engine model number, serial number, existing SKU if available, shaft length, rotation, and original ratio before shipment.

Before dispatch, the selected SKU should be checked against the engine model and serial information supplied with the order. If the information is incomplete or conflicts with the selected configuration, the shipment should be paused and the customer contacted for clarification.

The shipping carton and SKU label should be inspected before release to the carrier. The customer should be informed that the gearcase ships without gear oil and must be filled with the engine manufacturer’s required lubricant before installation or operation.

When the shipment arrives, inspect the carton for punctures, crushing or water exposure. Photograph visible damage, retain the carton and packaging, and report shipping damage before the unit is installed. Do not install or operate an incorrect or visibly damaged shipment.

Once the order has cleared the fitment and packaging review, tracking information should be provided to the customer using the contact details submitted at checkout. The customer should verify the delivery address, monitor the carrier’s tracking updates and arrange to receive the shipment when required. Any address correction or delivery-request change should be submitted before carrier pickup, because changes made after dispatch may cause additional delays or fees.

How to Choose the Correct Mercury F150 Lower Unit

Start with the exact engine family. A standard Mercury F150, an F150 counter-rotation application, an F150 Pro XS and an F150 SeaPro may all be rated at 150 horsepower, but they do not automatically use the same replacement gearcase.

Next, match the existing driveshaft length. The ME-G4-15, ME-G4-17 and ME-G4-33 families are listed with a 20-inch L shaft. The ME-G4-16, ME-G4-16A, ME-G4-18 and ME-G4-34 families use a 25-inch XL configuration. Shaft length must be confirmed from the engine and existing gearcase—not estimated from the boat.

Rotation is equally important. The ME-G4-16A is the listed counter-rotation or left-hand F150 configuration. Do not select it simply because the engine is mounted on a particular side of a twin-engine boat.

Finally, choose new or remanufactured condition and submit the complete engine model and serial number. The original gear ratio and spline configuration must also be confirmed before installation. These steps are more reliable than ordering from horsepower, year or appearance alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Mercury engines do these lower units fit?
This listing covers selected Mercury F150, F150 counter-rotation, F150 Pro XS and F150 SeaPro four-stroke applications. Fitment must be confirmed using the complete engine model and serial number.
What model years are supported?
OBR supplier catalogs identify the F150 and Pro XS families as 2011-Up and the SeaPro ME-G4-33 and ME-G4-34 families as 2022-Up. Exact serial-number fitment is required.
Which SKU is the counter-rotation lower unit?
ME-G4-16A-N and ME-G4-16A-R are the explicitly identified F150 counter-rotation configurations. They use a 25-inch XL shaft.
Are every Pro XS and SeaPro variant counter rotation?
No counter-rotation claim should be made for those variants without SKU-level supplier confirmation. VERIFY BEFORE PUBLISHING and confirm the existing rotation from the engine installation.
Which shaft lengths are available?
The listing includes 20-inch L and 25-inch XL configurations. Shaft length varies by SKU and must match the existing installation.
Are new and remanufactured lower units available?
Yes. SKUs ending in -N are listed as new, while SKUs ending in -R are listed as remanufactured.
What gear ratio and spline count do these lower units use?
VERIFY BEFORE PUBLISHING for each ME-G4 SKU. Do not assign one ratio or spline count to the entire product family without current OBR documentation.
Is SE90-221 an alternate part number for these lower units?
No. SE90-221 or SE221 is a separate SEI lower-unit family and is not an alternate part number for the OBR ME-G4 configurations on this page.
What is included with the lower unit?
The listing verifies one selected OBR gearcase assembly. Inclusion of the water pump, anodes, propeller hardware, mounting gasket and installation hardware must be confirmed before publishing.
Does the lower unit arrive filled with gear oil?
No. OBR states that gearcase assemblies ship without oil. Fill the unit with the engine manufacturer's required gear lubricant before operation.
What warranty applies?
OBR provides a two-year limited warranty on new and remanufactured gearcases, subject to its written inspection, installation, use, freight and exclusion terms.
Can an installed lower unit be returned?
No. Mariners Warehouse states that assembled, installed, used or rented items cannot be returned. Eligible return requests must be made within 14 days of shipment and require authorization.
What information is required before shipment?
Provide the engine model number, complete serial number, existing shaft length, original rotation, original gear ratio and current gearcase identification if available.
