The Nautica Marine 280 seascooter was a great purchase for light snorkeling and recreational diving down to 100 feet. Speed controls are smooth, offering up to 2.8 mph, and the lightweight design makes carrying it down to the water easy. Great battery life per charge.
Pulls effortlessly through calm lake and ocean water. The dual-speed controls work well. The only reason for 4 stars is that you need to be meticulous about cleaning sand off the rubber seal before closing the battery casing to prevent leaks.
The built-in camera mount holds a GoPro firmly, making hands-free underwater recording super steady. The auto-buoyancy control keeps the scooter neutral underwater so it doesn't sink if you release the handles. Packaging from Mariners Warehouse was clean and fast.
We get roughly 90 minutes of total run time per charge out of the Marine 280. It has enough thrust to easily pull an adult with full dive gear. Just ensure you lubricate the O-rings before every saltwater trip.
