How to Check Humminbird CoastMaster Compatibility
Pre-Purchase Compatibility Guide
How to Check Humminbird CoastMaster Compatibility
Match the exact CoastMaster chart, item number and software requirements with your HELIX, SOLIX, APEX or XPLORE display.
A CoastMaster chart can have the right coastal coverage and still be the wrong purchase if it does not support your exact Humminbird unit. Humminbird CoastMaster compatibility depends on the chart product, version, display family, hardware generation and, for some units, the installed basemap or software level.
That is why “Will CoastMaster work with my fish finder?” cannot be answered safely from the brand name alone. Before ordering from the CoastMaster charts collection, collect the identifiers below and compare them with the current listing for the exact map card.
Compatibility rule: Match five things together—chart item number, chart version, full display model, display generation and current software/basemap requirement. Do not use a general CoastMaster family statement as a substitute for the exact product listing.
Step 1: Identify the Exact CoastMaster Chart Card
Start with the product rather than the display. CoastMaster Standard and CoastMaster Premium cards can have different coverage, versions and compatibility. Write down the full chart name and item number shown on the product listing or package.
| Current chart path | Item number | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| CoastMaster U.S. Coastal V1 | 601015-1 | Exact U.S. coastal water, display generation and basemap/software requirement |
| CoastMaster Premium Florida V2 with Bahamas | 602014-2 | Florida/Bahamas coverage and the narrower published SOLIX-generation requirement |
| CoastMaster Premium Northeast Coastal V1 | 602024-1 | Exact Northeast coverage and supported SOLIX, APEX or XPLORE model |
Step 2: Record the Complete Humminbird Model
Do not stop at “HELIX 7” or “SOLIX.” Record the full model name and generation shown in the unit information screen, product label or original documentation. The generation letters and numbers are important because CoastMaster HELIX compatibility and CoastMaster SOLIX compatibility can differ between chart cards.
HELIX
Record screen size, G3/G3N/G4/G4N generation and whether the unit has chartplotting capability.
SOLIX
Record the full SOLIX model and generation; the Florida V2 listing specifically names SOLIX G3.
APEX
Record the exact APEX model and check whether mapping is supplied or purchased separately.
XPLORE
Record the exact XPLORE model and confirm whether the needed mapping is already included.
Step 3: Compare the Product-Specific Compatibility List
The current product pages illustrate why a product-specific check is essential. The CoastMaster U.S. Coastal V1 Standard card lists HELIX G3/G3N and newer plus all SOLIX, APEX and XPLORE units. Premium Florida V2 lists SOLIX G3, APEX and XPLORE. Premium Northeast Coastal V1 lists SOLIX, APEX and XPLORE.
Do not generalize: A shopper could read that CoastMaster supports HELIX and then incorrectly assume that every CoastMaster Premium chart does too. The exact chart's compatibility block must control the decision.
Current compatibility snapshot
- U.S. Coastal Standard V1: HELIX G3/G3N and newer, all SOLIX units, all APEX units and all XPLORE units.
- Premium Florida V2 with Bahamas: all SOLIX G3 units, all APEX units and all XPLORE units.
- Premium Northeast Coastal V1: all SOLIX units, all APEX units and all XPLORE units.
Treat this as a current snapshot rather than a permanent universal promise. Recheck the official compatibility information and the Mariners Warehouse listing when you are ready to order.
Step 4: Check Software and Basemap Requirements
Hardware compatibility is only part of the answer. The current U.S. Coastal V1 listing also publishes basemap requirements for supported HELIX and SOLIX units. It states that HELIX 9–15 G3N and newer and all SOLIX units require basemap version 1.031, while HELIX 5/7/8 G3/G3N and newer require basemap version 2.010.
Those requirements relate to that specific current product listing and can be updated. Before inserting the chart card, compare the installed software or basemap version with the latest requirement for your exact Humminbird model. Follow Humminbird's official update instructions and protect waypoints or settings as directed by the manufacturer.
Helpful information to send: a photo or written record of the full model name, generation, software/basemap version and the CoastMaster item number you plan to buy.
Step 5: Verify the Card Format and Available Slot
Current CoastMaster product specifications identify SD-card delivery, and product imagery may show an SD adapter with a microSD card. Do not infer package contents from a family image alone. Check the exact listing, confirm which card or adapter is supplied and inspect the card slot available on your display.
If another slot is already occupied by sonar recordings, AutoChart data or a separate mapping card, decide how the new CoastMaster chart will fit into your normal setup. The presence of a physical slot does not replace model, generation and software compatibility checks.
Step 6: Confirm the Coastal Coverage
A compatible CoastMaster card is still not useful if it does not cover the water you fish. Verify the precise coast, bay, route or offshore area instead of relying only on “U.S. Coastal,” “Florida” or “Northeast.” Use the exact item number and version when consulting the current chart list or coverage map.

Does CoastMaster work with every HELIX model?
No. The current U.S. Coastal Standard card lists HELIX G3/G3N and newer, while current Premium Florida and Northeast product pages do not list HELIX. Verify the exact card and complete HELIX model.
Does a supported model also need a software update?
It may. The current U.S. Coastal V1 listing includes specific basemap requirements for supported HELIX and SOLIX units. Check the exact product and current official instructions before use.
Can I use CoastMaster in Garmin, Lowrance or Simrad?
CoastMaster is intended for supported Humminbird displays. Do not purchase it for another brand unless a current official source explicitly confirms the exact chart and device combination.
Compatibility note: Product support and software requirements can change. Verify the latest official information and exact Mariners Warehouse listing before purchase or installation.
