Start with the official APEX 13 mounting envelope
Humminbird lists the APEX 13 with a 13.3-inch Full-HD display. The published standard gimbal-mounted envelope is approximately 15.6 inches wide × 9.88 inches high × 4.88 inches deep. The published optional in-dash profile is approximately 15.6 inches wide × 8.98 inches high × 0.51 inches deep.
These are useful screening dimensions, not a substitute for the current APEX 13 in-dash mounting template or diagram. Printed templates must be reproduced at the manufacturer’s specified scale and checked against the physical unit or kit before cutting. Dashboard thickness, fasteners and rear connector clearance can change the real installation requirement.

Gimbal mount or in-dash?
Gimbal mounting
A gimbal mount can provide angle adjustment, easier display removal and more direct rear-cable access. It also requires a solid surface, enough vertical and rear clearance through the full tilt range, and a position that does not obstruct gauges, switches or forward visibility.
Check steering movement, throttle travel, windscreen clearance and whether the display can be seen from the normal operating position without excessive reach or glare.
In-dash mounting
An in-dash APEX 13 installation creates a low-profile helm, but it commits a large dashboard opening. Inspect behind the panel for braces, wiring, steering components and structural members before choosing the location.
Critical GPS requirement: Humminbird states that an external GPS antenna is required for an in-dash installation to ensure accurate positioning and navigation. Add the antenna, cable route and suitable mounting location to the plan.

Plan clean, stable power
The APEX 13 accepts 10.8–20 VDC and Humminbird publishes a 3.1-amp draw for the control head. That number helps with load planning, but wire size, fuse or breaker selection, run length, voltage drop, battery system and applicable marine standards must be assessed for the actual boat.
Use a dedicated, correctly protected marine circuit as specified by current Humminbird installation instructions. Keep power wiring organized and separated from potential electrical-noise sources where practical. Do not reuse an unknown circuit simply because it is already near the helm. A qualified marine electrician or installer should resolve any uncertainty.
Build the APEX 13 network setup on paper first
APEX is designed as a network-capable multifunction display. However, Ethernet, NMEA 2000, HDMI, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth perform different jobs. A clear connection map prevents duplicate purchases and avoids assuming that one cable type can carry every device or data source.
APEX provides two Ethernet ports for compatible Humminbird control heads and Ethernet accessories. Two direct connections may be possible without an external hub; a larger Ethernet design may require a compatible switch and the correct cables.
An accessory NMEA 2000 network can provide supported vessel, engine, weather and water-condition data. The display does not replace a correctly powered and terminated backbone.
Independent HDMI connections support compatible video input and output use cases. Confirm source, display, format and cable-routing requirements before specifying the installation.
Wireless functions support selected software-update and compatible accessory-control workflows. They do not remove the need for the correct wired sonar, Ethernet, NMEA 2000 and power connections.

Do not confuse “compatible” with “included”
Radar, AIS, autopilot, MEGA Live, MEGA 360, NMEA 2000 backbone parts, an Ethernet switch, external GPS hardware and many connection cables can be optional. Create a bill of materials from the exact functions you want.
